Cacao in its whole, quiet form.

A cacao wheel is a solid, hand-cast disc of pure ceremonial cacao — the same stone-ground whole-bean cacao as our powder, just in its original form. Nothing added, nothing removed. You break off what you need, when you need it, and let the rest wait quietly in your cupboard.

Why the wheel form. Before cacao was ever ground into powder for convenience, it was pressed into blocks, discs, and tablets. Preparation was part of the ritual. The wheel form honors that older way — and it also stores beautifully. A whole cacao wheel keeps its integrity for months longer than powdered cacao, because less surface area is exposed to air.

How to use it.

Shave or chop — with a sharp knife or a microplane, take off about 1 to 2 tablespoons' worth. Whisk into 6 to 8 oz of hot water or plant milk. Sweeten lightly to taste.

Break — score the wheel with a knife and snap along the line. Segments can be melted whole into a mug or saved for later.

Grate a little into anything — oatmeal, smoothies, warm milk, baked goods. A small amount goes a long way.

The ritual of the wheel. There is a small ceremony in the wheel itself. You choose it. You break off what you need. You watch it melt into hot water and become something dark, alive, and warm. It slows you down. It asks you to pay attention. That slowing-down is part of what makes cacao such a lovely companion for meditation, journaling, breathwork, or the first quiet hour of your day.

A gentle note. Ceremonial cacao is beautifully potent. Most people find their sweet spot is 1 to 2 tablespoons per cup. If you're pregnant, nursing, taking MAOI medications, or sensitive to stimulants, start small or check in with your practitioner first.

Available in 16oz wheels.
